Precision you can feel under the cursor.
Object snaps, tracking and polar angles behave the way your hands expect. Each figure below is the editor's own frame, drawn by the engine mid-gesture.
Object snaps
F312 object snaps with AutoCAD's markers and tooltips. Shift+right-click forces one for the next pick — here, Tangent.
Object snap tracking
F11Rest on two points to acquire them, then follow their alignment paths to where they cross.
Polar tracking and Ortho
F10F8F9Polar holds the rubber band to your increment and reads out distance and angle. Ortho locks it square.
- WindowCrossing
Window and crossing
Drag right for a window that takes what it encloses; drag left for a crossing that takes whatever it touches.
Coordinates are typed the AutoCAD way: @100<30 for relative polar, #120,80 for absolute — right at the cursor.
A real 2D drafting toolset — and growing.
106 commands today, filed the way the ribbon files them. Each asks AutoCAD's questions in AutoCAD's order; the options still missing are tracked on the roadmap.

Your drawings stay on your device.
Autosaved in your browser
Every change is saved on this device as you draw. Close the tab; the drawing is there when you come back.
A file when you want one
Ctrl+S saves the drawing as a file in MellowCAD's own versioned format. Ctrl+O opens it again, on any computer.
No account, no uploads
There is nothing to sign up for and your drawings are never sent anywhere. Analytics count page views without cookies.
- Clearing this site's data clears the autosave too. Press Ctrl+S to keep a file. What is stored, exactly
Not a drawing toy. A CAD engine.
Underneath the canvas is an engine with no idea there is a browser around it — which is what lets it draw the figures on this page at build time.
- A pure geometry kernel
- Vectors, arcs, ellipses, intersections and offsets with no hidden state, tested by property as well as by example.
- One gesture, one undo
- Every change to the drawing is a command in the history, so Ctrl+Z always takes back exactly what you did.
- A file format that forgives
- Versioned and tolerant: a file from an older release always opens, and a damaged object is skipped, not fatal.
- AutoCAD is the spec
- Command names, prompt order, keywords and defaults follow current AutoCAD. A partial command is fine; a reinvented one is not.
- 4,000+ automated tests
- Tools are tested the way you use them — moving, clicking and typing at a headless engine.

Missing something you need? Tell me.Questions, answered.
Is MellowCAD free?
Yes — free to use, with no account and no trial. It's an independent project under active development.
Do I need to install anything?
No. It runs in a modern desktop browser — Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari. Open mellowcad.com/draw and type a command.
Does it really work like AutoCAD?
That's the spec: commands, aliases, prompt order, option letters and defaults follow current AutoCAD. Some commands are still partial, and the roadmap lists exactly which options are missing.
Can I open or save DWG or DXF files?
Not yet. Drawings are saved in MellowCAD's own versioned file format. DXF import and export are on the roadmap but not scheduled yet.
Where are my drawings stored?
On your device. MellowCAD autosaves in your browser and never uploads your drawings. Clearing the site's data deletes the autosave, so press Ctrl+S to keep a file.
Is MellowCAD affiliated with Autodesk?
No. It's an independent project. AutoCAD is a registered trademark of Autodesk, Inc.
Does it work on tablets or phones?
It opens, but it's built for a keyboard and mouse, like AutoCAD. Use a computer.
Which commands are supported?
106 commands, including LINE, PLINE, CIRCLE, ARC, ELLIPSE, HATCH, OFFSET, TRIM, FILLET, ARRAY, dimensions, blocks and layers. The full list, with aliases, is above.
